 Guide To the Game
« Thread Started on Oct 6, 2007, 5:00am »

This guide was made to ensure all who play this game will understand how it works. If anything is unclear or you see an error on the page, feel free to post in the 'Better the Forum' Board.

This game is based on the circus, as you very well know by now, you begin by creating your character. After the character has been accepted you have to audition for a circus to try and join it.

To audition you need to proove to the ring master that your act is the best. You need to RP your entire act, but only when the Ring Master has given you the go a head to do so.

There are three stages in the auditioning:

1) The introduction: This is where you introduce yourself to the Ring Master and let him understand you wish to join his circus.

2) The Act: Now you need show him what your act looks like, NOTE: You can not start your act without the go-ahead of the Ring Master.

3) The Conclusion: In this part the Ring Master might still ask you a few questions, but it is here that it is decided if you join or not. Most Ring Masters will sayd yes, but if their looking for a particular act they will send you on your merry way.

Freaks, need not proceed to step two, the immediatly proceed to the third stage as freaks normally have no 'act.'

For now there is only one circus availible.

NOTE

1) There must be an opening in the circus, as in it must say in the Character Sheet that the circus is looking for acts at the moment.

2) If no circusses needs an act, then you can go about it two ways; you can either create a person who is not in fact part of the circus (a thief, a soldier) or you can still create your act and RP with them on the streets as they wait for an opening and trying to make a living.

It's really up to you.

After you've been accepted, you can start RP in the circus.

You must RP in the parades, you must RP in the shows.

When the circus has settled in a town and no shows are being held, you have right to enjoy the world.

A PM will be sent to you when a show is being held.

During a show you are told when you are up, the Ring master will anounce so in a post, every act is done this way. You must have an introduction, the main act and the finale. You must dazzle us with your magnificent writing talents ;)

One of the moderaters will decide if the whole show was up to par, if it was then all of you will recieve a bundle of money. If it wasn't then the bundle of money will drop like a stone and you will recieve a lot less.

If you don't post in the parade or show then you receive a warning, after the second warning you're out of the circus. Point.

You will progressively work your way down the board to the very last city. You will hold shows in each city and village and this will ensure all of you have some form of money.

After you've reached the end of the board you're brought back to the beginning, the 'Home' and from here you can go where ever you want, up untill the next show is on the road ;)

Types of acts;

Animal Acts:

Animal acts are exactly what it says, acts with animals! When creating an animals act, take note that a pay cut will be taken from your money in order to feed your little beasties :). Any animal is welcome, but please don't be absurd, don't use a whale, you're going to get no where fast.

Clowns:

The very centre of all that is the circus! Clown provide good entertainment and are usually seen in between acts, to give the great acts a chance to get ready. To be a clown is not as easy as it sounds, when auditioning, you have to at least let the Ring Master chuckle. Also, you can't always use the same act, otherwise people will get bored, with every new journey that starts you better have a new act ready.

Trapeze:

Tight ropes and high flying action, the performers that make you gasp with shock and nearly die of heart attacks, they are The trapeze artists. To be a trapeze you need to have extra's, otherwise it can get very boring very fast, you also need to have a very good writing ability and a good commong knowledge on what these guys can do. Trapeze artists are just that, for the artists.

Magicians:

One of the funnest and relaxing one's of all, the great thing about magicians you can have as little or as much fun as you want and it usually stays great, but just like the clowns you need to have a new routine figured out by the next journey. Extras are not required, but they do help to spice up the act a bit! Cards, disapearing acts, escaping the jaws of death and all that jazz is what makes a magician a magician.

Acrobatics:

Where the trapeze artists dance around on tight ropes, these guys bounce around on flat floors. They are quick, smooth and very elegant and precise in their movements. You will need extras with these guys as someone needs to catch the guy about to do a tripple flip in mid air!

Item Acrobats:

Jugglers are the better word for this division, people who through burning torches, razor sharp knives around and never hits a spectactor is a bloody mirical if you ask me. Jugglers normally don't need extras, but they do help to spice the act up a bit!

Freak Shows:

The saddest and hardest life out of all the acts. Freaks are pushed from society due to their faces, distorted bodies and strange looks. Almost anything goes in the freak division, the strongest man, the ugliest woman and so on. Try to be creative when creating freak shows, as they are the very thing that people come to see.

If I left out anything that you would like to be, let me know in the 'better the forum' board and I will add it.

In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the screams of wounded people. A candle flickered into life, a symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle shining in the ugly dark. I laughed, and blew it out
